THE ORIGINAL WOLFPACK, The Prowl

The WOLFPACK symbolizes unity, teamwork, and ferocity. The Wolfpack is the mascot of the North Carolina State University. The name was adopted in 1922 when a disgruntled fan described the behavior of the student body at athletic events as being like a wolfpack.

The wolves in this print exhibit traits form different types of wolves including Gray, Red, Maned, Dire, Arctic and Arabian. Fur coloration varies greatly, running from gray all the way through the canine spectrum of white, red, brown, and black. A wolf's bite can reach over 450 PSI, twice that of a domestic dog, and four times more than a human. Wolves are apex predators residing at the end of long food chains, where they have a crucial role in maintaining the health of ecosystems. Packs can contain between 2 and 20 wolves, though 8 is a more typical size. Red wolves range over about one million acres in the wild in North Carolina where a special preservation program has been introduced to protect them.
