CARDINAL, The Art of Sport

Following a win over Cal in the first-ever Big Game in 1892, the color cardinal was picked as the primary color of Stanford's athletic teams. White was adopted as a secondary color in the 1940s. CARDINAL is intended to refer to the color, not the bird.

The idea for this print came from watching the 2008 Beijing Olympics. 47 current or former Cardinal athletes participated in the games. From the opening ceremonies to the closing ceremonies and all of the events in between, La Noue was awestruck by the beauty of human motion. This piece is a tribute to the blood, neurons, muscles, and passion that drives an athlete and the vibrancy of the challenge. In this print, there are images representing 17 Cardinal sports teams.

This is a 20 by 24 in. limited edition giclee print. Because these prints are a fusion of over 50 layers of drawings, paintings, collages, and photographs there is no "original." Only 300 prints will be made.
